For the first time, the Fred Harvey History Weekend talks from the New Mexico History Museum in Santa Fe will be online LIVE! Sign up for individual talks or all seven for a suggested donation. All sessions will last an hour, including questions, but we will leave extra time at the end of each for dialogue to continue, so the zooms are scheduled for 90 minutes. This year’s schedule:

The hotel has a fascinating history not only with the railroads but as a site for Transcontinental Air Transport, the first cross-country airline. Can’t wait to see the first new pictures inside the Gran Quivira, and hear about its prospects!
  5. 11/14 at 11:00 AM MT ““Meet the Harveys Session: Joy Harvey on the Harvey Ladies and More”: A candid conversation with Dr. Joy Harvey, wife of the late Byron Harvey III, and the only family member left who knew Mary Colter, Katherine “Kitty” Harvey and others. 6. 11/14 at 2:30 PM MT “Inside The Harvey Girls Movie with Best-Selling Author John Fricke” Garlandista legend John Fricke–two-time Emmy winner as co-producer of Judy documentaries for PBS and A&E, and a Grammy nominee–has written seven books about Judy and Oz, as well as the extensive historic liner notes for the first full CD release of The Harvey Girls . He’ll tell inside stories about the making of the movie. And while Fricke is a popular national speaker–especially about Judy and The Wizard of Oz –this is his first-ever talk on The Harvey Girls
  7. 11/15 at 1:00 PM MT “Santa Fe Rail Historians Dish on Fred & the ATSF” Join Santa Fe railroad history and modeling experts Michael Gross (TV and film actor, and train enthusiast), Rich Luckin (prolific rail filmmaker and rail china expert, author of the authoritative book on Mary Colter’s Mimbreno China) and Kevin Keefe (the former editor and publisher of Trains magazine). They’ll talk frankly about their own collecting and the unique relationship between the railroad and the Harvey organization. And they’ll discuss whether FredHeads give the ATSF enough credit for what these landmark companies achieved together and separately. We’ll also watch a few minutes of their documentary on the Super Chief. And , since all three will be joining us via zoom from home, we’re hoping to get a look at some of their memorabilia! Panel moderated by Stephen Fried.
